The RAM-B-347U base consists of a B size 1" diameter rubber ball connected to a 2" x 1.7" square base. The base has four pre-drilled holes at each corner, using the universal AMPS hole pattern.

Do I need to use the plastic shim that is provided while installing this part?
No, the plastic shim is just there in case your handlebar is too narrow for the U-Bolt without it. If the U-Bolt will fit without the shim there is no reason to use that part.

What size screws are needed for the holes on this ball plate?
The most common screw sizes are #8, #10, M4 and M5 screws. However, if you are pairing this with any RAM® Holder, the holder will come with the necessary hardware to connect to your mount.
